Geography The country of Solomon Islands lies east of Papua New Guinea and contains many islands throughout it's territory. It consists of about 19 islands. The distance from the westernmost island and easternmost island is about 1,500 kilometers. Since the island of Bougainville is so close to Solomon Islands on the map it is geographically a part of Solomon Islands but is politically a part of Papua New Guinea. |  |
